6th Grade Bible: "Winning Your Race" Objective: to make the Word of God come alive for the students. This course will help the students find knowledge, wisdom, and understanding for themselves from the Word of God. They will learn how the Word of God can help them in their lives with every situation that comes along. One of the primary goals of this study is to allow the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of the students to "conform them into the image" of Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:29). A Strong emphasis is placed on character development with practical lessons enabling the students to make life-changing decisions for themsleves even at a young age.
7th Grade Bible: "Route 66" Objective: In this study we move through the entire Bible. Students want and need the big picture. Route 66 puts all the pieces together like a road map, and gives them an aerial view of God's Word and work. Students will become acquainted with the Bible as a whole, discovering how the Bible's divisions relate, the context of each part, what each book is and become courious, interestered and excited to study God's Word. Students will grow in confidence as they realize how each piece fits into God's scheme. They will be studying the Bible all the way through. Students will learn how to locate key events and characters in the Bible, as well as be able to apply basic biblical principles that will enrich their lives.
8th Grade Bible: "Life of Christ: From the Gospel of John" Objective" Jesus Christ is the unique personality of all time. He as changed the course of History as the no other person or influence. Yet, it is still easy to think of Christ as some invisible, impersonal God who is far away somewhere in space. This study acquaints the students with the visible and personal Jesus, the Christ of God. The students will achieve the following: 1) to see His brillance, 2) to know His compassion, 3) to thrill at His courage and power, 4) to weep over His death, and 5) to rejoice in His resurrection. The students will have a desire to respond to Christ.
6th Grade History: "Heritage Studies" Objective: Student will study World History as a story of people and their relationship to God. This study includes people and cultures from the Dark Ages to the present in all parts of the world. They will study three main components: history, geography and culture. This course brings these three strands together in introduction to world history built around geograhical areas but still focusing on culture. Throughout the text book many examples are give of people and nations who either followed God's standards or failed to do so. Students will see the truth of God in actions and develop values and principles for living based on this knowledge. Students will use several art projects and concepts to gain a better understanding of the cultures and people we will be studying.
7th Grade History: "World Studies" Objective: In World Studies the roles are played both by individuals and groups of people. Their lives and actions make up their culture. This study is designed as study of everyday people in history, not just kings, presidents, generals and battlefields. This is the story of people and their relationship with God. 7th grade students are discoverng their own abilites and responsiblities in life, there is no more valuable study than one that examines the lives of others in light of Scripture. Students will also have the opportunity to "cook" throughout this study. Each chapter offers a recipe at the end and students prepare dishes and then sample different types of food.
8th Grade History: "American Republic" Objective: Students will complete a comprehensive survey of United States history, intended to give students a solid foundation of knowledge about the heritage of this country. The goals of US history are: 1) to see the truth of God in action and His hand in the values and principles of the United States, 2) to emphasize the role and examples of individuals in history, 3) to teach the many lessons that can be learned from history, and 4) to identify the fundamental traits of Americanism- The American Dream, limited government, popular culture and how they have changed over the nation's history. Students will also study the United States Constitution and pass a Constitution test as required. Students will have various projects to help then with a better understanding of our American heritage.
